Hi there!
I am JJ aka “The Fritz” .
I’m a traveling sport horse photographer with an eye for the moments that truly matter— the candids. You know the heart-melting moments of riders loving on their horses before and after the ring, relaxing with their dogs, and sharing laughs with their support team. My goal is to capture all of the moments that remind you why you do this in the first place. Whether it’s a gentle nuzzle, a playful tug-of-war with a lead rope, a giant hug from your biggest supporter, or a quiet moment of gratitude after a long day. I’m there to freeze those moments in time for you forever.
Well, almost any moment…
Let me tell you something about dressage. Dressage is the bane of my existence. It’s a rectangular wasteland of misery that somehow masquerades into our sport. Honestly, I can’t imagine looking at dressage and feeling anything other than soul-crushing despair. Who sits in the stands watching riders go down centerline at a slow, agonizing crawl and thinks, “Wow, this is thrilling!”?. It’s like watching paint dry, but the paint is judgmental.
Now, don’t get me wrong—I love all of you which includes those already too far gone into the rectangular chaos. I just think we deserve better than the relentless pain of prancing around with perfect timing. How realistic are these expectations? Do we want to promote perfection or embrace what makes us unique? Because personally I love your horses giraffe impression.
That’s enough about the devil’s geometry…Let’s talk about what really lights me up: traveling the open road in my trusty sidekick, Simon the Kia Soul, with a camera in hand and a heart full of excitement. Every mile I travel is an opportunity to meet incredible horse people, share belly laughs over shared stories, and create something truly magical together.
When I’m not behind the lens, you’ll likely find me planning my next cross-country adventure, playing with my dog, catching up with friends, or recharging in bed for way too many hours. On snowy days, I’m probably outside rolling in it—and, of course, gleefully posting about it on social media just to irritate the summer lovers.
On the road, my mind is often a swirl of memories from the unforgettable moments I’ve had the privilege to capture. Like the time someone strolled through a show with a backpack, and inside was the happiest dog you’ve ever seen, living its best life. Or the moment a rider, covered head to toe in dirt but laughing like she’d won the lottery, hugged her horse like it was the best day of her life (spoiler: it absolutely was).
This sport is messy, beautiful, unpredictable, and absolutely worth documenting. That's why I do what I do. My hope is that, years from now, you'll pull out one of my photo albums and proudly share the memories within. Because I captured it all—the chaos, the deep love, and those seemingly fleeting moments that defined this time with your best friend and the incredible people who made it all possible.
So, if you’re ready to ditch the rectangles and embrace the adventure. Let me turn your everyday moments into lifelong treasures. Simon and I can’t wait to meet you, your herd, and anyone else who makes your world complete. The road is calling—and we’re ready to capture it all
Love,
